- Alternatively, the activity can be carried out after introduction of the topic, to test pupils’ understanding of the new vocabulary list.

- Pupils are given a number of sticks to create an enclosed figure, starting with 10 sticks.
- On completion, the perimeter and area are shown.

- This activity can be used to introduce area and perimeter. Pupils will also learn that for figures of the same perimeter, they can of different areas.
